Shakespeare-Yearbook
The Shakespeare Jahrbuch is the yearbook of the German Shakespeare Society; it has been published since 1865 and, since 2019, with Kröner (Stuttgart). It is peer-reviewed and includes scholarly articles in German and English, usually centred on a main theme, a “theatre review” section with reviews of Shakespeare productions in the German-speaking world from the previous season, a “book review” section with reviews of important publications in German and international Shakespeare studies, and reports on the work of the German Shakespeare Society.
The editors of the Shakespeare Jahrbuch are Isabel Karremann (Zürich); Felix Sprang (Siegen) is responsible for the theatre review, and the book review is overseen by Susanne Gruß (Bamberg) and Allison Lemley (Bamberg).
The team of editors is being supported by a scholarly council with the following members:
- Lukas Erne (Université de Genève)
- Ewan Fernie (Shakespeare Institute, University of Birmingham)
- Marta Gibińska (Uniwersytet Jagielloński, Kraków)
- Diana Henderson (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)
- Ton Hoenselaars (Universiteit Utrecht)
- Andreas Mahler (Freie Universität Berlin)
- Ángel-Luis Pujante (Universidad de Murcia)
- Hanna Scolnicov (Tel-Aviv University)
- Jyotsna G. Singh (Michigan State University)
- Nathalie Vienne-Guerrin (Université Paul Valéry Montpellier 3)
Members of the German Shakespeare Society receive the Shakespeare Jahrbuch free of charge; it can be purchased for 50 EUR on the book market.
The Shakespeare Jahrbuch is listed on the European Reference Index for Humanities (ERIH Plus).
