Membership
The German Shakespeare Society has around 2,000 members worldwide, including academics, theatre professionals, students, people interested in Shakespeare and many a prominent contemporary.
Become a member or gift a membership
Anyone who supports the aims of the organisation can become a member. Every member is regularly informed about the Society’s activities, invited to the conferences and receives the Shakespeare Yearbook (Shakespeare-Jahrbuch) free of charge.
The yearly membership fees are as follows:
- Full members € 50.00
- Pupils, students, trainee teachers up to the age of 27, low-income earners € 15.00
- Couple’s membership € 75.00
- Corporate members € 60.00
Membership fees and donations are tax-deductible.

Membership Fees
Membership fees are collected in March. If your bank connection has changed, please fill out a new direct debit authorisation, which you can revoke at any time, and send it either via e-mail to office(at)shakespeare-gesellschaft.de, via Fax to 03643 904076 or via mail to Deutsche Shakespeare-Gesellschaft, Windischenstraße 4-6, 99423 Weimar. Gift a membership
Why not surprise relatives, friends or colleagues with a special gift and give them an annual membership of our society (full membership at €50.00). This gift package includes the current issue of the Shakespeare Yearbook (Shakespeare-Jahrbuch) and the option of attending our conferences at a particularly favourable membership rate.
If you gift the membership to a student who wishes to remain a member of the Society after one year, the reduced membership fee will continue to apply to them.
The gift recipient’s membership is not automatically renewed. The office will contact the recipient before the membership expires and offer an extension.
