The German Shakespeare Society regularly provides impulses to spark the interest of students in the study of Shakespeare. This is why the Shakespeare Study Day, funded by the German Shakespeare Society, usually takes place once a year at a German university.

The next study day will take place on 26 February 2026 at the University of Leipzig. It will revolve around the topic of “Shakespeare’s Sonnets in the EFL classroom” and take place in the lecture hall of the Biblioteca Albertina, Beethovenstr. 6, Leipzig.

The programme consists of lectures by Prof. Dr. Lotta König and Prof. Dr. Thorsen Merse, Prof. Dr. Ralf Haekel, Dr. Jürgen Ronthaler and vice president Prof. Dr. Kirsten Sandrock.
