Conference for teachers, lecturers, students, theatre practitioners and individuals who are interested in Shakespeare
Würzburg, 13-14 November 2025
Nature, the environment and ecology have always played a central role in Shakespeare’s works. In recent years, these themes have become increasingly important, especially with regard to climate change, natural disasters and the curative power of nature and the environment, and are increasingly finding their way into educational institutions and the theater landscape. During the conference, we will take an interdisciplinary look at the topic, present current research approaches for teaching Shakespeare in (higher) education and encourage an interactive exchange with students, teachers and theater professionals. The conference will culminate in a visit to the performance of “Romeo and Juliet” at the Mainfrankentheater Würzburg.
