Upcoming Conferences

The next conference on “Shakespeare and Truth” is planned to take place from April 24 to 26, 2026, in Bochum. Prof. Dr. Julian Nida-Rümelin (LMU Munich) will be giving the opening lecture. We are also looking forward to plenary lectures by Prof. Kevin Curran (University of Lausanne), Prof. Alison Findlay (Lancaster University), Prof. Subha Mukherji (University of Cambridge), and Prof. Anne-Julia Zwierlein (University of Regensburg).

A performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Schauspielhaus is also on the programme, as well as a cinema screening of the film Hamnet (2025, based on the best-selling novel by Maggie O’Farrell).

For the Fall Conference 2026 on November 6 and 7, 2026, we will once again meet in Weimar. The topic of the conference will be the play – is it really a comedy? – Measure for Measure, which will also be on the DNT’s programme.

The board intends to schedule the Spring Conference 2027 in Weimar for April 23-25 in Weimar. We are looking forward to a performance of Cole Porter’s adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew in his globally succesful musical Kiss Me Kate at the DNT.
