Goethe and Schiller Archives at Weimar

The Goethe and Schiller Archives in Weimar are Germany's oldest literary archives. They contain the literary estates of countless writers, academics, composers and artists dating from the period between the mid-eighteenth and mid-twentieth centuries. Their holdings include 38 file cabinets of records concerning the Shakespeare-Gesellschaft.

Office Hours:

Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am to 6:00 pm; Friday, 8.30 am to 4:00 pm.
If use of the archives is to last several days, an application to the User Services Office (in writing or by telephone) is desirable (Telephone: 03643 / 545-266).

Guided Tours:

Every first Thursday monthly at 2:30 pm there are guided tours introducing visitors to the history of the archives, their holdings, and their work.
